Great Food and Good Times: Hudson Valley RibFest

August is all about good eats and outdoor fun, and the Hudson Valley RibFest is about to bring home the best of both with their 9th annual barbecue celebration! On August 16th, 17th and 18th the Hudson Valley RibFest will honor this finger-licking favorite with a three-day food festival featuring the best BBQ in the Northeast!

Barbecue is growing more popular every day in New York, and the proof is in the numbers. Now in it’s 9th year, the Hudson Valley RibFest has more teams than ever competing, and festival attendance has continued to grow every year.

With nearly 50 teams pitting their barbeque skills against some of the sharpest competition in the Northeast, the winners will earn serious bragging rights and $8,500 in prize money.

Barbecue teams and food aficionados alike will marvel at the convenient location- New Paltz, NY is only 90 miles north of NYC, and the fairgrounds offers plenty of room for competing teams and all who visit the event.  This beautiful setting features a spectacular view of the towering Shawangunk Mountains, the Northeast’s favorite destination for rock climbers and hikers.

Of course, the Hudson Valley is the country’s premier apple growing region, and the New England Barbecue Society Grilling Contest pays homage to this venerable tradition with a special “Apple Desert” category.

BBQ teams will have an opportunity to showcase their skills with this regional specialty- Hudson Valley Apples will need to figure prominently in each entry!

If you love good food and great times, you won’t want to miss the Hudson Valley RibFest.  This family event features food and beverages from a wide array of vendors offering roasted sweet corn, hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, fried pickles, smoothies, lemonade, jerk shrimp and fish, soft pretzels, gourmet nuts, fudge and candy, and of course… barbecue!

Supported by an army of over 300 volunteers, the event sponsors will go out of their way to make folks feel at home while keeping activities humming for the thousands of visitors who will enjoy this three-day festival of music, games and good eating.

This year’s event will kick off on Friday with an excellent concert program featuring some outstanding recording artists.  Doors will open at 5:00 PM and the music will start at 7:00.  This gives concert goers plenty of time to enjoy a lip-smacking BBQ dinner from any of six expert rib vendors before the concert starts.

Additional entertainment will include activities for the entire family including cooking demonstrations and live music featuring performances by The Little Creek Band on Saturday night and The Cagney’s on Sunday.  There will also be a children’s area with inflatable bouncing houses, a climbing wall, kid’s crafts and activities, and more!

Admission to this exciting event is just $5.00 for adults with children 12 and under free.  Visit www.hudsonvalleyribfest.org to learn more!
